ENGLISH / GUIDE + COMPARATOR

Which curtain packs cover your rail—and what will they cost?

Put two or three real offers beside the same measured rail. Separate a width per panel from a width per pair, buy whole packs, and keep unresolved fit checks visible.

SAME RAIL / ACTUAL OFFERS

Compare the whole purchase.

Copy each pack label and the price for the complete pack. Check whether its width is per panel or combined. These entries stay in this page; there is no account, upload or saved shopping list.

Offer A
Check fit, delivery and alteration costs
Offer B
Check fit, delivery and alteration costs

Enter two real offers to compare pack quantities and entered costs. No fit or saving is assumed.

The controls do not send entries over the network or retain them in cookies or browser storage. The publication’s optional analytics choices remain separate. Printing uses your browser’s own print dialog.

Check the arithmetic.

VISIBLE ARITHMETIC

Coverage = usable rail + 2 × each return + centre overlap.

Flat width needed = coverage × your chosen fullness.

Flat width per panel = printed width, or printed whole-pack width ÷ panels per pack.

Minimum panels = round flat width needed ÷ panel width up to a whole panel.

For an equal split, round that panel count up to an even number. Then round panels needed ÷ panels per pack up to whole packs.

Use all bought panels unless an equal split leaves one odd panel unused. Achieved fullness = flat width actually used ÷ coverage.

Entered cost = whole packs × pack price + total delivery charge + total alteration quote.

Prices are rounded for display only. Blank charges are unknown and excluded from the known-cost subtotal; they are not treated as confirmed free. Enter a total alteration quote for the quantity, not a price per panel. There is no ranking of a “best” offer.

For explicitly stated closed coverage, the quantity calculation uses coverage directly. The tool does not multiply an already-pleated width by fullness again or infer how much flat fabric it contains. If width meaning is unknown, it gives no quantity or total.

Width arithmetic does not settle fit.

A matching panel total does not establish heading compatibility, hanging behavior, weight capacity, light blocking or appearance. An equal count on each side also does not establish the exact overlap or return arrangement. Check the intended product and hardware.

The length difference is shown only after you enter both drops and confirm the same measurement reference. A shorter offer stays flagged; extra width cannot lengthen it. A longer offer stays flagged for a separate feasibility and quote check. Do not cut, iron or alter curtains based on this calculation.

This tool excludes bay or curved rails, wave/ripple systems, bespoke orders, existing mixed panels, installation and shrinkage predictions. An ordinary calculator or a free spreadsheet may be enough for your purchase.

IKEA Netherlands explains its per-curtain width convention; check the exact product in your own market. Dunelm’s heading-specific guidance illustrates why flat fabric and finished pleated coverage should be distinguished. Source guidance checked 10 October 2026.

For the separate question of shortening particular IKEA curtains, see the Australian model-specific shortening guide.

Read the example as arithmetic.

The example button uses a 240 cm rail, 2× flat-width fullness and an equal split. Offer A has two 168 cm panels per pack at 50 units, plus 5 delivery: two packs buy four panels, give 2.8× fullness and a known-cost subtotal of 105 units. Offer B has one 150 cm panel per pack at 22 units, plus 10 delivery: four packs give 2.5× fullness and 98 units before any alteration. Its 213 cm drop is shorter than the entered 220 cm requirement. The lower subtotal does not resolve that mismatch.

Offer C describes 336 cm for the whole pair. Dividing by two gives the same 168 cm panel width as A. These are hypothetical labels and prices, not current listings or an endorsement. All alteration quotes and heading checks remain unresolved in the example.
