Replacing a dishwasher behind an IKEA front? Identify the hinge route first
UK pre-order guide; documentation checked 14 October 2026.
Before ordering fixings, establish whether you are repairing the original door attachment or adapting an IKEA front to a different dishwasher. The appliance’s identity and approved fitting system matter; “IKEA” in a kit name or a nominal 60 cm appliance width does not prove that the parts fit.
For example, Electrolux’s kit 140125033468 has a product-number compatibility checker. IKEA’s BEHJÄLPLIG sliding-hinge page says it can fit most non-IKEA dishwashers and expressly requires checking the particular machine. Neither statement confirms an unidentified installation. Route one: the same appliance, missing or broken fixings
Start with the rating plate and the appliance’s spare-parts service. Record the maker, model and the relevant product or service number. Photograph the existing attachment parts and note which ones are missing, without dismantling an uncertain assembly to identify it.
Ask for the correct replacement parts for that appliance and door arrangement. On Electrolux’s named kit page, use the requested appliance PNC or ask its parts service for assistance. A catalogue title containing “fully integrated, IKEA” is not a substitute for the compatibility result.
If the checker cannot identify your appliance, treat the result as unresolved. Do not guess an equivalent appliance code from a similar-looking machine.
Route two: a different appliance behind the retained front
Collect the proposed dishwasher’s installation drawing and the retained front’s actual dimensions and weight. Ask the appliance supplier or installer to assess the front, hinge arrangement, opening movement and surrounding cabinetry together.
The BEHJÄLPLIG assembly document, AA-2246136-2 supplies instructions for that fitting. It does not identify the dishwasher in your kitchen or guarantee compatibility with every integrated machine. Use it alongside the exact appliance’s installation information, not in place of it.
For a quotation, provide:
- the dishwasher’s full identification;
- the IKEA kitchen/front reference if known, plus actual front measurements;
- photographs showing the existing fitting arrangement;
- the appliance installation drawing;
- the proposed kit’s exact part number.
Ask the supplier to confirm both the required parts and any limitations before you order.
What about the Zenith ZDW600 and Electrolux kit?
A DIYUK question asks whether kit 140125033468 will reattach an IKEA front to a Zenith ZDW600. That question establishes a real identification problem; it does not establish that the appliances share a fitting platform.
We have not verified that pairing. The useful next step is an appliance-specific parts confirmation, rather than buying the Electrolux kit because its name mentions IKEA.
Stop before a fitting tutorial becomes a guess
This is a pre-purchase identification guide. It does not provide drilling positions, spring adjustments, installation clearances or electrical/plumbing instructions. If the front is loose or the mechanism is damaged, keep the installation out of use and ask a competent installer to assess it rather than improvising fixings.
You may need only the correct replacement hardware; you may need a supported adaptation; or the proposed appliance may be unsuitable. Establish which outcome applies before paying for either a dishwasher or a hinge kit.
