Kobo My Articles is missing: check the accessibility software before resetting
If the entire My Articles option has disappeared, first identify the software on your Kobo. A documented limitation in the optional accessibility update can explain the missing feature. A saved article failing to sync is a different problem, with a different set of checks.
English; named EU optional accessibility software on Kobo Clara BW, Clara Colour, Libra Colour and Elipsa 2E; dated July 2026/version 5.18 limitation checked 10 October 2026.

Start with the missing item
On small screens, scroll the table sideways.
| What you see | Where to start |
|---|---|
| No My Articles option under More | Record the model and software version, then check the accessibility limitation below. |
| My Articles opens, but one saved web article is absent | Check the linked Instapaper account, the article’s location in its list and the refresh step. |
| An old Pocket account no longer connects | Check the service change; a reader reset cannot revive Pocket. |
| A Libby loan is absent from My Books | Use the separate library-loan checks, rather than Instapaper instructions. |
Write down the exact missing menu or title before changing anything. “My articles are missing” can mean either of the first two rows. That distinction lets you describe the problem to support without repeating repairs intended for another symptom.
Record the version before choosing a fix
Kobo’s software-version instructions put the number under Home, More, Settings, Device information. Copy the full Software version value. Keep it alongside the model name and what appears under More.
Use this small record before any reset or software change:
- Model: ________
- Full software version: ________
- My Articles is absent / present but empty / missing one article: ________
- Accessibility features I use and want to retain: ________
- Previous software changes I remember making: ________
The record is also useful for a second-hand reader: your present location does not tell you which changes were made before you bought it. Do not diagnose the software from a seller’s description alone.
The dated accessibility limitation
Kobo’s accessibility support page still excludes Instapaper in its July 2026/version 5.18 limitations. Checked on 10 October 2026, it describes the optional 29 July 2025 EU update for Clara BW, Clara Colour, Libra Colour and Elipsa 2E.
Match your recorded details to that dated limitation. A different model or later release needs its own confirmation.
Decide which features matter for your reading. You can retain accessibility and read web articles on another device meanwhile.
Understand restoration before selecting Revert
The accessibility page’s restoration resets the reader and removes the new accessibility features: Home, More, Settings, Device Information, then Revert under Revert to previous version. Read the page before proceeding; its restoration instruction differs from a general factory reset.
Kobo’s separate reset warning explains the practical consequences: downloaded books are removed, computer-added files are deleted, unsynced bookmarks and annotations can be lost, and the account and preferences need setting up again. Kobo purchases can be downloaded again.
Before choosing restoration, retain copies of files added from your computer, preserve work you cannot afford to lose and make sure you can sign in again. Do not rely on having a book visible on the reader as proof you have another copy. If the software does not show the described option, stop and ask Kobo about your recorded model and version. Do not substitute a guessed firmware file or repeat factory resets hoping to change software branches.
What this check can establish
This is a source-based software triage guide, checked on 10 October 2026. It does not claim a tested repair or guarantee menu restoration on your reader. The useful outcome is a recorded symptom and version, followed by a deliberate choice about the features and data you want to keep.
